Challenge

YuMe World, a Family Entertainment Centre located on Level 1 of The Gate in Newcastle City Centre, faced the challenge of increasing footfall into its store. Despite having a prime city centre location, the store’s position inside a leisure centre, one floor up, limited its footfall potential. Key challenges included:

  • Footfall Enhancement: YuMe World aimed to attract more visitors to its store within the leisure & retail centre, capitalising on its excellent city centre location.

Solution

Sumo Marketing Group devised a multi-channel marketing strategy to address YuMe World’s challenges:

  • Above-the-Line (ATL) Media: Sumo implemented an ATL strategy, starting with radio advertising on Capital Tyne & Wear. The Sumo creative team developed a captivating brand identity for YuMe World and consistently reached around 250,000 weekly listeners in Tyne & Wear through radio ads.
  • Outdoor Advertising: Sumo secured ad space on a digital screen just outside the leisure & retail centre where YuMe World is located. Additionally, they purchased metro panels on Monument Metro’s escalators, a station with an annual footfall of 10.5 million, to promote YuMe World effectively.
  • Below-the-Line (BTL) Marketing: Sumo initiated a BTL marketing strategy by building a brand-new, responsive website for YuMe World. The website was designed to be content-rich, SEO-optimized, and future-ready. The Sumo team optimized the website for search engines and targeted key search terms. Multiple photo and video shoots were conducted to showcase the store’s extensive collection of games.
  • Managed Social Media: Sumo took charge of YuMe World’s social media presence, ensuring consistent, on-brand organic social media content to highlight the business.
  • Monthly Blogs and Website Development: Sumo regularly published blogs and continued to develop and maintain the website to support ongoing SEO efforts.

Results
